BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Sanford Black & Co LLC is an advisory firm specializing in developing strategic business models for growth oriented enterprises. Our professionals offer financial, marketing, operational, customer service and technology solutions geared to the global market and each client’s unique strengths. The firm is comprised of executives with decades of experience in leading and providing guidance to organizations across Asia, China, Eastern and Western Europe, Latin America, and the United States. 
The Sanford Black team assists management teams on key matters impacting business performance. The firm offers a full range of Merger and Acquisition services, including sourcing potential global targets and managing the negotiation, due diligence, and closing processes. Additionally, Sanford Black offers post-closing integration services.
Sanford Black is focused on Technology Enabled Services companies. The firm’s mission is to assist our clients in developing and executing their roadmap to becoming industry leaders.

LEADERSHIP

Sanford Black was founded by Marc Schwarz in 2014. Mr. Schwarz was joined by Charles Aird, PhD, to create a unique global advisory services firm. Prior to founding Sanford Black, Mr. Schwarz was a Senior Executive at Oracle and Hewlett Packard, and Partner at Deloitte Consulting, where he was also Chairman of the Board of Deloitte India Private Ltd. He was responsible for the global technology services segments of those businesses. His responsibilities spanned the global geography, and included the Sales, Marketing, and Operations functions with full Profit and Loss accountability.  Mr. Schwarz received his MBA in Management Strategy and Policy, and Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from New York University.
Dr. Charles Aird is a recognized expert in the global service delivery environment and has over 40 years experience as an international executive with firms such as PwC, Deloitte Consulting, EY and HCL Technologies. He as been the CEO/MD, President/COO, CIO, Partner and Vice President while establishing consulting practices and global delivery centers across multiple industries. He has lived in India, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore for 20 years providing services to multi national and local companies. Charlie was most recently the Global Leader of PwC's Business Transformation and Sourcing practice where he provided services to companies establishing operations in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America. He has published widely and is often a speaker at major conferences. Charlie has the Doctorate and Masters from the University of Virginia as well as BS from Va. Tech. 
The Sanford Black principals came together based on a common vision of how to assist service companies take advantage of markets and technologies to become industry leaders. To accomplish this a different type of Advisory Firm was envisioned. The core values at Sanford Black center on Client Service. We have added a team of Senior Global Advisors with a diverse set of expertise and experience on global projects across multiple territories and industries. Global Advisors

Gary K. Duberstein, Advisor for Global Capital Markets

Mr. Duberstein has wide ranging experience in business, finance, hedge funds, law and private equity.  He presently serves as Chief Business Officer and General Counsel of Parkside Scientific Inc., a New York City based drug development company with collaborations in China.  Parkside focuses on designing and developing novel “first-in-class” small molecule drugs for cancers and inflammatory diseases that work by modulating gene expression.
Mr. Duberstein spent eight years (1985-1993) as General Counsel to Carl Icahn and Vice President and General Counsel to his affiliated entities. Some of the better known investments by Mr. Icahn during this period included Texaco, TWA, USX/US Steel/Marathon Oil, and Viacom. Mr. Icahn also amassed a large distressed portfolio, and Mr. Duberstein was active in debt restructurings of major corporations, including Resorts International, Texaco, Trump Plaza, Trump Taj Mahal, TWA and Western Union.   During this period, Mr. Duberstein also was involved in the negotiation of a few billion dollars of financing for various Icahn entities, including ACF Industries and TWA.
Mr. Duberstein later co-founded pioneer activist investor Greenway Partners for which he served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel (1993-2003). Peak assets managed by Greenway and affiliates—which included three investment advisers registered with the SEC, onshore and offshore hedge funds, and separately managed accounts—were approx. $700 million. Among companies targeted for corporate governance initiatives were Inland Steel, OMC Corp., Perry Drug, Unisys and Woolworth/Footlocker.
Mr. Duberstein has a law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School (1979), where he was a member of the Law Review, and graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University (1976), where he majored in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Mr. Duberstein began his career with Weil, Gotshal & Manges, and spent over 10 years as a trustee of the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR).

Larry Janis, Advisor for Human Resources

Mr. Janis is the Managing Partner of Integrated Search Solutions Group (ISSG), a retainer based executive search firm with over a two decades of experience successfully attracting top talent for Outsourcing Providers (IT, BPO and BPM), Consulting Practices (Strategy & Technology) and Corporate Functions (GBS, Shared Services,  HR, CIO, CTO, etc). ISSG has worked successfully for major corporations, as well as venture capitalized start-ups. Larry and his partners have provided talent acquisition services to companies such as Accenture, CGI, AT&T, Diebold Nixdorf, Arvato and Axiom Law.

Ronald Kranzler, CPA.CITP Advisor for Global Finance

Mr. Kranzler is Managing Partner of the Certified Public Accounting Firm Held, Kranzler, McCosker and Pulice, LLC. (HKMP). He has extensive experience serving a wide range of corporate and individual clients in numerous industries. Ron began his career with Deloitte and Touche (DT). He was a controller for both a public and private company before HKMP.
Joining HKMP as a partner, he brought the technical skills he acquired from his public and private experience. In addition, Ron brought  a commitment, stemming from his experience on both the performance and receiving side of audits and tax, to provide personalized service to each and every client. Since becoming managing partner in 1985, he has been instrumental in contributing to the firm’s growth through his emphasis on quality and customized service. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, he is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and currently serves on its Closely Held & S Corporations Committee.

Steve Stubitz, Advisor for the Global Technology Services Industry

Steve is an Operating Partner at the Private Equity Firm The Riverside Company.  He joined Riverside in 2012. Prior to joining the Firm, Steve  worked as a Principal on the Operating Team at American Capital focused on information technology and business services companies. Previously, Mr. Stubitz was the General Manager and Director for Hewlett Packard’s Business Process Outsourcing group. Mr. Stubitz is a veteran of the business services, technology and outsourcing industry and is an expert in leveraging off-shore and near-shore models to improve performance of business services companies. Prior to Hewlett Packard, Mr. Stubitz served as a senior executive in two startup companies and was at Keane for six years and at IBM Global Services for 10 years. Mr. Stubitz began his career at Accenture. He earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago, an Masters of Science in Enterprise and Systems Engineering, and a Bachelor Degree in Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering specializing in Operations Research from the University of Illinois.

Stephan Sunn PhD, Advisor for Global Mergers and Acquisition

Dr. Sunn possesses a unique combination of quantitative research and global business development. His experience at the Yale University Science Council, the Advanced Meso-scale Research Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and the US Department of Energy has provided practical applied research to business problems. While providing advice to clients at MSA, Gartner and PWC, Dr. Sunn forged strong relationships with business leaders around the world which has led to his ability to understand the global services business marketplace.
